Guwahati, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, recently discussed the growing investment and employment opportunities in the state, emphasizing a significant ₹778 crore investment. He highlighted how this funding is fostering a value chain that connects agriculture to major brand products.
In a post on the social media platform X, Sarma noted that increased investment in Assam is creating more job opportunities for locals. He pointed out that products from the state are now reaching markets beyond its borders.
Sarma stated, “With opportunity comes growth; this ₹778 crore investment is creating more job opportunities at the local level.” He illustrated the connection between agriculture and industry by referencing the journey of potatoes grown in Assam to the packets of chips available to consumers. This journey symbolizes the economic opportunities the state aims to generate.
He added, “From the potatoes grown in our fields to the packets of Lay’s on your shelves, this is the opportunity we are creating. Products made in Assam are now reaching outside the state.”
The ₹778 crore investment is crucial for attracting private investment to Assam and expanding employment opportunities beyond traditional sectors. The government is promoting Assam as an emerging investment destination, focusing on manufacturing, food processing, infrastructure, and other industries.
Sarma’s remarks also pointed to the potential for connecting Assam’s farmers with organized food processing and consumer product supply chains. Such connections could create additional pathways for value addition within the state and provide local agricultural products access to broader markets.
