Bengaluru, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) concluded its 36th quarterly conference for regional officers in Bengaluru on September 15, 2026. The two-day event, held at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B), focused on leveraging technology and forensic capabilities to expedite hearings and convictions.
During the conference, the ED reaffirmed its commitment to fair law enforcement within its jurisdiction and to safeguarding the integrity of India’s financial system. A message posted on the social media platform X noted the successful organization of the conference on September 14-15, which followed a management and leadership workshop led by IIM-B faculty members on September 13.
The conference wrapped up with a clear roadmap for the upcoming quarter. Key objectives include timely implementation of cadre restructuring, full utilization of technology and forensic capabilities, accelerating prosecutions and penalties, and ensuring continuous compensation for victims of economic crimes.
Sessions during the workshop were conducted by IIM-B faculty and international experts. Topics covered included the future of financial investigations in the context of India’s digital public infrastructure, the use of artificial intelligence and data analysis in economic crime investigations, and risks associated with deepfakes and AI-enabled fraud. Cyber threats and international cooperation were also significant discussion points.
Input from a special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), associated with the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, added further value to the discussions. The conference also addressed issues related to asset recovery through the World Bank Group’s stolen asset recovery initiative.
A recurring theme emerged throughout the sessions: the necessity to shift from a case-centered approach to an ecosystem-centered one in investigations, while remaining aware of associated risks and strengthening institutional capacity.
