According to police reports, on May 26, 2026, around 7:30 PM, a suspicious Maruti Suzuki Dzire was stopped during a patrol near the Akshardham Flyover on the road leading to Noida. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered 6.2 grams of MDMA hidden in the dashboard. The three young men in the car were apprehended on the spot.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Praveen Kumar alias Johnny (37), a resident of Arya Nagar, Karkardooma; Abhishek (28), also from Arya Nagar, Karkardooma; and Lakshya (23), a resident of Ganesh Nagar Complex, Delhi.

An FIR numbered 136/2026 has been filed against the trio under Sections 22, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act at PS Mandawali. The police have also seized the vehicle used in the crime.

Rajeev Kumar, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Eastern District, stated that the Special Staff team has been monitoring the drug network based on continuous intelligence inputs. Under the supervision of ACP Pawan Kumar and led by Inspector Jitendra Malik, the operation was executed successfully.

During police interrogation, the suspects admitted to possessing MDMA for supply and distribution. Investigations are also underway to determine if the suspects are linked to an interstate trafficking gang.

The Eastern District Police reiterated its ‘zero tolerance’ policy, emphasizing that drug trafficking and any related offenses will not be tolerated. Continuous operations are being conducted to dismantle all such networks.

The police have urged citizens to report any information regarding drug sales, suspicious activities, or traffickers to local authorities. Public cooperation is crucial in building a drug-free Delhi.
