Domestic Workers Protest After Assault Incident in Greater Noida

Greater Noida, June 5: A significant uproar occurred in the Greater Noida region on Friday following an alleged assault on a domestic worker at the Purvanchal Royal City Society in the Chai-5 area. Angered by the incident, numerous women gathered outside the society to protest.

Many domestic workers took to the streets, leading to a large assembly of hundreds of women who blocked traffic near the Chuharpur underpass to express their dissent.

Reports indicate that a domestic worker was allegedly slapped by a flat owner during a dispute. Upon learning of the incident, other domestic workers from nearby areas quickly arrived at the scene to join the protest.

The protesting women claimed that domestic workers often face disrespectful treatment, demanding strict action against such incidents. They called for severe legal measures against the perpetrators. The protest caused traffic disruptions at the Chuharpur underpass, temporarily halting vehicle movement.

Upon receiving news of the protest, police from the Beta-2 station arrived at the scene. Officers engaged with the protesting women to calm the situation. After discussions, the demonstrators peacefully returned to their homes.

According to official police reports, the incident involving the flat owner slapping the domestic worker occurred on June 4 within the jurisdiction of the Beta-2 police station. In response, a group of domestic workers began their protest. The police acted promptly to manage the situation.

The police also conducted a medical examination of the victim. Based on the complaint filed by the victim, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law. Authorities stated that an investigation is underway, and necessary legal actions will be taken based on the findings.
