Chennai, July 20: The DMK Youth Wing marked its 47th anniversary on Monday, celebrating its status as one of the party’s most influential organizational units. This milestone is considered a significant chapter in the party’s history.
On this occasion, Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Secretary of the Youth Wing and Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, shared a message on social media. He urged party workers to prepare for a new phase of engagement between politics and the public.
In a post on X, Udhayanidhi reflected on the journey of the Youth Wing, noting its evolution from a small movement to one of the DMK’s strongest organizations. He called on party members to strengthen the organization and ensure that the party’s ideology and welfare schemes reach every individual.
Udhayanidhi stated, “During challenging times for the party, the M.K. Stalin-led MISA batch initiated the DMK Youth Wing. Today, as we enter our 47th year, let us advance activities related to public interest and ideology, aligning with the needs of the times.”
He also shared a memorable video showcasing the Youth Wing’s journey and achievements over the decades.
The Youth Wing was officially recognized as an affiliated unit of the party during an event held in Madurai on July 20, 1980. M.K. Stalin was appointed as its first State Coordinator, leading the organization for nearly 37 years until 2017.
Under his leadership, the Youth Wing expanded rapidly, becoming one of the party’s most active and robust organizational units. On July 4, 2019, Udhayanidhi Stalin took over as the State Secretary of the Youth Wing.
Since assuming office, he has focused on strengthening the organization and has initiated several public welfare projects. These include large-scale membership drives, engaging youth with the organization, cleaning water bodies, environmental protection campaigns, and various community service programs.
The Youth Wing has established local youth committees and conducted door-to-door outreach campaigns, significantly bolstering the party’s grassroots organization across Tamil Nadu.
Party leaders assert that these initiatives aim to further strengthen the DMK’s organization while ensuring that the party’s policies, plans, and welfare promises reach every corner of the state.
