Ujjain, June 6: On the sixth day of the Krishna Paksha during the auspicious month of Jyeshtha, the Baba Mahakal Temple held its sacred Bhasma Aarti early Saturday morning. The temple gates opened at 4 AM, and as devotees caught their first glimpse of Baba Mahakal, the entire complex erupted with chants of ‘Jai Shri Mahakal.’
As the gates opened, the atmosphere was filled with the sound of mantras. Baba Mahakal was bathed in holy water, Panchamrit, milk, and yogurt, followed by the enchanting Bhasma Aarti. The temple priest conducted the grand Aarti, attracting a large number of devotees who had lined up for hours to pay their respects.
After seeking the blessings of Lord Veerabhadra, the temple doors were opened with the accompaniment of drums and trumpets. The moment the doors swung open, the complex resonated with the jubilant cries of ‘Jai Shri Mahakal.’ The temple was alive with the sounds of bells, conch shells, and chanting.
Once the doors were opened, water was first offered to the deity, followed by a divine bath with Panchamrit. Throughout this ritual, the temple echoed with the fervent chants of ‘Jai Shri Mahakal’ and the sound of conch shells.
The ‘Nirakar to Sakar’ form of Baba Mahakal signifies the transformation of the formless, infinite, and omnipresent Supreme Being (Nirakar) into a specific and worship-worthy form (Sakar) for the welfare of devotees.
