Patna, August 28: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the governments of Bihar and Rajasthan have introduced a free bus service for women. This initiative aims to help women travel easily to their parental homes and families during the festival. A significant number of women are taking advantage of this free travel option.
The Bihar government has made free travel available on all its buses for women during Raksha Bandhan. Women can travel without paying fare on both AC and non-AC bus services in the state. This facility will be in effect until 10 PM on August 27 and 28.
Following the launch of the free bus service, the number of female passengers has surged at various bus stands across the state, including Patna. Women are utilizing this opportunity to celebrate Raksha Bandhan at their brothers’ homes. One female passenger praised the government’s decision, stating, “It’s wonderful that free travel is being provided on Raksha Bandhan. This is a great help for women.”
Similarly, the Rajasthan government has also offered free travel for women on state roadways during Raksha Bandhan. At the Sindhi Camp bus stand in Jaipur, a large number of female passengers were observed. The availability of free travel has led to significant crowds at the bus stations. Many travelers welcomed this initiative, although some expressed concerns about the crowding and arrangements.
Women passengers reported that the free bus service has provided them with considerable relief. One woman mentioned, “I get good facilities on the bus, and today the service is free. So, I am going to meet my brother and celebrate Raksha Bandhan without any fare. This free travel service is very beneficial for women.”
Another female traveler added, “I am going to Alwar to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. The government has made travel free for women today. This is a good initiative, as it saves us from paying fare during our travels.”
Transport department officials stated that the free bus service has encouraged a large number of women to travel to meet their brothers. This initiative by the governments not only provides economic relief during the festival but also ensures a safe and convenient travel option for women.
