Chennai, May 9: Renowned South Indian filmmaker Vignesh Shivan is currently in the spotlight due to his recently released film, ‘Love Insurance Company’ (LIC). The film has received a mixed response from audiences.
In a candid Instagram post, Shivan shared his hopes, struggles, disappointments, and gratitude towards the viewers. He revealed that he had high aspirations for the film, but the results did not meet his expectations.
Shivan stated, “I had envisioned great dreams for this film. I believed that my story would resonate with millions and leave a significant impact on the cinema world. Before the release, I kept thinking that the theater would echo with applause and that audiences would laugh heartily.”
He continued, “The film did receive love in theaters. I saw laughter and reactions from the audience, but it still did not achieve the box office success I anticipated. I was confident it would cross the 100 crore mark. Honestly, I expected even more. However, something was missing that prevented the film from fully connecting with the audience. This saddens me.”
Despite the outcome not aligning with his hopes, Shivan expressed satisfaction and happiness. “For me, the release of this film is a significant victory. Creating it was not easy; I faced numerous challenges and difficulties that only I could understand. There were many nights when I couldn’t sleep, filled with fear and stress, but I never gave up.”
In his post, Shivan mentioned, “I hoped that many prominent figures in the industry would call me to praise my work after watching the film. I wanted the people I admire to appreciate my efforts. But the reality was different. I received mixed reactions. Some raised questions, while others offered limited praise. Nevertheless, I did not lose heart or confidence.”
He also discussed the film’s earnings, stating, “The film grossed over 70 crores. Even when it was labeled as ‘average,’ a significant number of people still flocked to theaters. This was true love from the audience. Despite negative feedback and noise, people showed trust in the film.”
