Earlier on Sunday, Ambassador Vikram Doraiswamy released a video message for pilgrims on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. He provided information on travel preparations, the circumambulation experience, and important travel tips.
The ambassador and officials from the Indian Embassy visited the circumambulation route and all entry points for the journey.
He noted that this site is also highly sacred for locals, and due to a special year occurring once every 12 years in the Chinese and traditional Tibetan calendar, a large number of pilgrims are expected this year.
Doraiswamy stated that the embassy team inspected not only the entry points but also the hotels where pilgrims will stay. The team assessed kitchens, rooms, and available medical facilities.
He mentioned that preparations have been completed as much as possible with the cooperation of the Chinese government, but travelers should remain cautious about the challenges posed by high-altitude areas.
He said, “This is a high Himalayan region. Generally, you will be at an altitude of over 3,500 meters above sea level at all times. The highest point of the Kailash Kora (circumambulation) reaches 5,605 meters, which is nearly 6,000 meters above sea level.”
