Kolkata, June 2: Dilip Ghosh, a minister in the West Bengal government, has responded to comments made by Mamata Banerjee regarding the BJP.
Speaking to reporters, Ghosh noted that Banerjee had called a meeting of the legislators, but attendance was low. He pointed out that many of her lawmakers did not even attend the assembly sessions. As a result, Banerjee has had to expel some members from the party. Ghosh remarked that the situation indicates that her legislators are only interested in remaining in power; if the party is in power, they are also part of it.
Ghosh further highlighted issues at the party’s office, revealing that 40 barrels of oil had been discovered there. He stated that supplies meant for public relief five years ago are now being found in the offices of TMC members, including MLAs and counselors. He accused the TMC of being a gang of looters, claiming that citizens are now breaking down doors to retrieve these items. He expressed disbelief at how these individuals conducted politics and noted that many are now eager to leave the TMC.
He concluded that the current trend shows that everyone is abandoning the party, suggesting that only Mamata Banerjee and her nephew will remain in the TMC. Ghosh lamented that the TMC had been in power for 15 years, which he deemed unfortunate for Bengal, as the people have suffered under their rule.
Criticizing the TMC further, Ghosh stated that whether they form a new party or stay together, their credibility is nonexistent. He emphasized that politics should not be treated merely as a business. He believes that politics in Bengal has become a means to profit, but the people have now moved past that. He urged cooperation with the new government for the betterment of all.
