Dilip Ghosh Responds to Alleged Attack on Abhishek Banerjee: Why Try to Be a Hero?

New Town, May 31: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has reacted to the alleged attack on TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee. Speaking to reporters, Ghosh stated that what happened to Banerjee should not have occurred. He emphasized that no one has the right to take the law into their own hands. For the past 15 years, the public has suffered, with individuals being harassed under TMC rule, where law and order were virtually nonexistent. Roads were blocked right in front of people’s homes. Who gave them the authority to do that?

Ghosh pointed out that a small TMC leader used to travel in three or four cars without any traffic police present. Why were there police officers stationed at every TMC leader’s residence? The public’s anger is now evident. The recent elections clearly showed how displeased the people were with the TMC, as they finished in fourth place. This result speaks volumes. Why are they trying to be heroes now?

He added that his own party members have faced severe beatings. He still bears scars from those encounters. During an election campaign with JP Nadda, TMC supporters attacked their vehicles, damaging ten cars. The public witnessed everything and was waiting for an opportunity. Why are they giving anyone a chance? They should stay at home peacefully and travel abroad.

In response to Mamata Banerjee’s accusations, Ghosh remarked that she has become aware of the hospital conditions. Her family has never visited a government hospital. They might not know whether animals or humans receive treatment there. He mentioned that her ministers and MLAs had their dogs treated in government hospitals. Now, they are forced to go to hospitals because they need medical certificates to file cases.

Ghosh commented on a recent incident where an egg was thrown, causing a minor injury. He questioned their fragility, stating that they have endured far worse injuries. He suggested that the opposition should experience the challenges of being in power, implying that this is just the beginning of their struggles.

Regarding statements from TMC leader Kunal Ghosh, Ghosh questioned who has been controlling the police. Over the past 10-12 years, 321 of their party workers have been killed. How many FIRs were filed? After the elections, violence resulted in the deaths of 56 workers, and FIRs were only registered after the CBI’s involvement. Even 35 women who were victims of sexual assault did not have FIRs filed. Many women had to hide in fields and forests to escape. The state of police and hospitals under the TMC government was dire.

Ghosh expressed gratitude for the BJP government, stating that without it, the TMC would have faced severe backlash from the public. No leader would escape the people’s wrath, as they would be attacked on the streets. However, they are the ones preventing the public from taking the law into their own hands.
