New Delhi, July 23: Amid ongoing protests by the CJP in Delhi, the Delhi Police has issued a statement regarding the spread of misinformation on social media. They have identified over 400 Pakistani social media accounts that are allegedly sharing false and misleading information to exploit the current situation.
The statement further noted that these accounts have been blocked. Many of these social media handles were also active during Operation Sindoor, aiming to incite unrest and distract students.
The Delhi Police has urged the public not to fall for any unverified information regarding children’s safety. They advised individuals to verify any posts before sharing and not to allow anti-social elements to take advantage of emotions.
The police reassured students that peaceful protests are their right and that the police respect this right.
In parallel, the Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a suspension of mobile internet services around Jantar Mantar for eight hours, starting from 4 PM on Thursday. The ministry stated that this action is necessary to maintain public order and prevent incitement to crime.
The directive specifies that mobile internet services (across all technologies) will be suspended in a 1.5-kilometer radius around Jantar Mantar from 4 PM to midnight on July 23.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitendra Singh mentioned that the government has invited those involved in the movement for discussions but has yet to receive a response. He indicated that talks could take place at the office or residence of JP Nadda at a convenient time, and he would also participate in the discussions. The minister emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is sensitive to their concerns and announced plans for fast-track courts to ensure swift justice for those responsible for paper leaks.
