Cooch Behar, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Minister Dilip Ghosh of West Bengal has expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prospects in the upcoming by-elections for two seats, Nandigram and Rejendranagar. Speaking to reporters in Cooch Behar, he emphasized that public support is firmly behind the BJP, while claiming that the opposition lacks viable candidates.
Ghosh remarked, “The by-elections for these two seats are not a major concern. We expect them to be conducted peacefully and transparently. The way the people have supported the BJP in past elections will be reflected in the upcoming polls as well.”
He criticized the opposition, stating that they are currently struggling to find candidates and are merely resorting to accusations without any substantial evidence. “They need to participate in the elections rather than just throw allegations,” he added.
Regarding the arrest of Congress candidate Milan Pradhan from the Nandigram constituency, Ghosh accused him of collaborating with anti-social elements, which he claims disrupted the lives of local residents. “When given the chance, the people removed them from power. They continue to engage in the same politics with anti-social elements, which is why the law is taking its course,” he said.
On former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s decision to challenge the Election Commission’s ruling to freeze the Trinamool Congress’s name and symbol in the Supreme Court, Ghosh quipped, “Her life will be spent running to the courts. Who is stopping her? She can go to the High Court, the Supreme Court, or even the UN. If her own candidate abandons her, how can she blame the government?”
Ghosh was actively engaging with local residents during his morning walk in Cooch Behar, discussing various issues with them.
