Ranchi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee’s disciplinary committee has issued a show-cause notice to former minister and Congress leader Yogendra Sahu for allegedly violating party discipline. This action follows comments he made about Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who leads the ruling coalition, which were deemed inappropriate.
Sahu has been asked to provide a written response within three days and to appear in person to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him under the party’s constitution. Rakesh Sinha, the media spokesperson for the state Congress, confirmed this development on Sunday. The notice, issued by committee chair Rameshwar Oraon, takes Sahu’s recent media statements seriously.
According to the notice, Sahu’s conduct was considered contrary to the party’s principles and leadership directives. The committee noted that statements made on public platforms that contradict the party’s declared policies or leadership instructions could lead to issues of organizational discipline. It was also highlighted that Sahu had previously faced expulsion from the party for similar violations, although this decision was later revoked in light of his significant contributions to the organization.
In light of recent events, the disciplinary committee has sought clarification from Sahu. He must explain why action should not be taken against him in accordance with the provisions of the party constitution.
The Congress party emphasized that while leaders and workers have the freedom to express their views, maintaining organizational discipline is equally crucial. Public statements made outside the organization’s platform that diverge from its declared policies, principles, or leadership directives are not acceptable.
