Devendra Fadnavis Says Manse Faced Biggest Loss in Alliance with Uddhav Thackeray

Pune, January 17: Following the significant victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a sharp attack on the Thackeray brothers on Saturday.

After the election results, Chief Minister Fadnavis described Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (Manse) as the “biggest loser” in the political alliance with Shiv Sena (UBT). He said his pre-election prediction was proven correct, where he had stated that Manse would suffer greater losses compared to Shiv Sena in the alliance.

Despite the high-profile partnership between Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, Manse managed to secure only eight seats.

Fadnavis Highlights Manse’s Electoral Setback

Chief Minister Fadnavis said, “Politically, I was clear that Manse faced a major defeat within this alliance. The results have confirmed my estimate. While the alliance benefited Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray and his party did not gain any advantage.”

Responding to Fadnavis’s remarks, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray stated that the alliance was not one-sided. He pointed out that a Manse candidate won a ward located in Shiv Sena Bhavan, indicating benefits for both parties.

Uddhav Thackeray added, “There was complete coordination between the workers of both parties. Wherever we campaigned, there was no distance between Manse and Shiv Sena supporters. We fought this battle united and wholeheartedly.”

BJP’s Victory Breaks Traditional Barriers, Says Fadnavis

Commenting on BJP’s success in the BMC elections, Chief Minister Fadnavis described the victory as “all-encompassing and touching,” noting that it has broken the conventional caste and language barriers.

He said, “The Marathi man of Mumbai, whom some considered their personal property, is now standing with BJP. Our corporators have won in slums, high-rises, chawls, and in the Koliwada area. There is no locality where BJP has not been successful.”

Fadnavis credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the party’s consistent success since 2014.
