Demands for CBI Investigation in Gagandeep Singh Randhawas Suicide Case

Chandigarh, March 21: In the wake of the tragic suicide of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, the District Manager of the Punjab State Warehouse Corporation, Bikram Singh Majithia, a leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, has leveled serious allegations against Punjab government minister Laljit Singh Bhullar.

Majithia shared a video on X, stating, “A young life was lost in Amritsar due to the torture and serious allegations against AAP minister Laljit Singh Bhullar. Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, the district manager of the Amritsar warehouse corporation, took his own life by consuming poison. Gagandeep, a resident of Ranjit Avenue, was also handling additional responsibilities for Patti. He was allegedly coerced into accepting a bribe of 1 million rupees.”

He further added, “Gagandeep was pressured to award a tender to a minister’s associate, after which he chose a legitimate bidder. This raises serious questions about the conduct of Laljit Singh Bhullar and those in power. Accountability now extends to the Chief Minister. It is crucial to secure and preserve his phone, which may contain vital evidence. The case should be handed over to the CBI for a fair and independent investigation, ensuring justice for the victim’s family.”

Following the emergence of a video related to Randhawa’s suicide, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accepted the resignation of Transport Minister Laljit Bhullar. The Chief Minister has assigned the investigation to Chief Secretary KAP Sinha.

In response, Laljit Bhullar has dismissed the allegations as baseless. He wrote on X, “The accusations against me are completely unfounded and false. However, a true party always stands by the truth. Therefore, I want these allegations to be investigated so that the truth can come to light.”

On this issue, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar remarked, “Earlier, people were losing their lives due to ransom demands, but now officials are taking their lives because they cannot meet the bribe demands of government ministers. Punjab is going through its toughest times. Does the Chief Minister still call his government a regime of brutally honest people?”
