New Delhi, June 18: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired a meeting of the Apex Committee to review flood control and waterlogging prevention preparations ahead of the upcoming monsoon. During the meeting, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department issued the Flood Control Order 2026.
CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that all departments must work diligently to ensure that residents face no inconvenience during the monsoon. She instructed that the number of pumps in potential waterlogging areas be increased and that a nodal officer be appointed at each waterlogging point.
She also directed timely de-silting of drains, immediate availability of mobile pumping systems, and ensured 24-hour monitoring. The importance of continuous situation monitoring through the Central Flood Control Room was also highlighted.
The government urged all relevant departments to coordinate effectively to tackle waterlogging issues during the monsoon. Officials presented detailed information on flood control preparations and ongoing efforts during the meeting.
Attendees included MPs Yogendra Chandoliya, Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, Manoj Tiwari, Cabinet Minister Pravesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Indraj, MLA Anil Sharma, Shikha Roy, and senior officials from relevant departments.
Regarding the meeting, Delhi Cabinet Minister Pravesh Verma posted on social media platform ‘X’ that preparing for the monsoon means not just facing challenges but staying one step ahead. The issuance of the ‘Flood Control Order 2026’ reflects Delhi’s commitment to proactive planning, inter-departmental coordination, and citizen-focused governance. This order, issued in the presence of the Chief Minister, MPs, and fellow ministers, lays out a clear framework for swift action and effective flood management across the city.
