Beijing, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : The Chinese Foreign Ministry has decided to impose retaliatory measures against Paraguay’s Minister of Communications and Technology, Gustavo Amigdio Villete Samaniego, and Belize’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science, and Technology, Francis Fonseca.
In recent years, certain anti-China politicians from Paraguay and Belize have persistently supported what they term ‘diplomatic relations‘ with Taiwan, driven by their own interests. Their actions and statements have significantly harmed China’s core interests.
To safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests, as well as to oppose separatist activities aimed at achieving ‘Taiwan independence,’ China has invoked Articles 3, 4, 6, 9, and 15 of its Foreign Sanctions Law. The measures include the seizure of any movable and immovable property owned by the two ministers in China. Furthermore, organizations and individuals in China will be prohibited from engaging in any transactions, cooperation, or activities with them. They will also face visa denials and entry restrictions, including for Hong Kong and Macau.
These sanctions will take effect on October 12, 2026.
