New Delhi, August 15: The Sonia Vihar police station team has successfully apprehended two suspects in an attempted murder case. They also recovered the weapon used in the crime, a stolen gold chain, a mobile phone, and ₹100,000 in cash.
According to an official statement, on August 12, around 12:18 AM, the PCR staff at Sonia Vihar police station received information about an injured individual found near the ‘First Pushta’ area. The victim was subsequently taken to JP Hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital, police identified the injured man as 32-year-old Pramod Yadav. His family had transported him to Max Super Specialty Hospital in Shalimar Bagh, where he was admitted to the ICU and underwent surgery.
Investigations revealed that Pramod Yadav works at a jewelry shop in Chandni Chowk. While returning home after parking his car near ‘2.5 Pushta’ in Sonia Vihar, he was attacked by two unidentified assailants armed with a sharp weapon. They robbed him of his gold chain and mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
An FIR was subsequently filed at Sonia Vihar police station. Under the leadership of Inspector P.K. Jha, a special team gathered evidence from various sources and conducted a thorough analysis. Based on the collected information, Mubashir and Salman were arrested near Chauhan Patti. During interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime. The victim’s mobile phone was recovered from them.
The suspects revealed that they had pawned the stolen gold chain at Muthoot Bank, located in the main market of Sonia Vihar. Following their directions, ₹103,000 was recovered in exchange for the pawned gold chain. Additionally, approximately 24 grams of the stolen gold chain and related loan documents were retrieved from Muthoot Bank.
Further investigation led to the recovery of the surgical blade used in the crime, found in the bushes near Chauhan Patti, based on the suspects’ directions. Police reported that the arrested individuals have no prior criminal records.
