New Delhi, July 20: The Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), which has been protesting at Jantar Mantar since June 20, has received a significant setback. The Delhi Police has stated that no permission has been granted for the proposed march to Parliament on July 20.
DCP Sachin Sharma confirmed that the CJP has not been given authorization for their alleged march to Parliament. He emphasized that Section 163 of the BNS is in effect, allowing protests only at the designated site in Jantar Mantar with prior approval.
He clarified that the Delhi Police has not received any application from the CJP requesting permission for the march, nor has any such permission been granted.
Furthermore, he stated that under the prohibitory orders, gatherings of five or more individuals, protest marches, or demonstrations are completely banned outside the designated protest area at Jantar Mantar. With the Parliament session starting tomorrow, extensive security measures will be implemented to ensure public safety and protect vital government establishments.
Any individual violating these orders will face legal action. The Delhi Police urges all citizens to respect the law, avoid participating in unauthorized gatherings or marches, and assist in maintaining public peace and safety.
The CJP has announced its intention to march to Parliament on July 20. Recently, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, was hospitalized. Following this, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has also begun a hunger strike.
Despite the CJP’s plans to march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament tomorrow, the Delhi Police has made it clear that no permission has been granted for this event.
