New Delhi, July 11: Delhi police apprehended a man on Saturday at the domestic terminal of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. He is accused of committing fraud amounting to ₹60 lakh.
This arrest was part of a special operation targeting declared offenders and absconding suspects by the Central District Police. The accused has been identified as Mukesh Kumar, 39, a resident of Techzone-4 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
According to police reports, a special team was formed under the supervision of the SHO of IP Estate Police Station and the overall guidance of the ACP of Kamla Market. The team included Sub-Inspector Gaurav Dalal, Head Constable Lalit, Constable Prakash, and Constable Ramjeelal.
To locate the accused, the team worked continuously based on technical inputs and direct information. Police officials visited his residence multiple times but were unable to find him. Surveillance was intensified, and information was gathered through confidential informants.
On July 10, police received reliable information that Mukesh Kumar was present at the domestic terminal of IGI Airport. Upon receiving this tip-off, the police team promptly arrived at the scene and successfully arrested the accused.
During the investigation, police discovered that Mukesh Kumar had been declared a fugitive under sections 420, 468, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at the IP Estate Police Station. He was declared a fugitive by the First-Class Judicial Magistrate (JMF) Preeti in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court on July 25, 2025.
Police stated that the accused had been deliberately evading judicial action to escape punishment. Legal proceedings are underway as per the law.
Earlier in the day, Delhi police also uncovered a fabricated robbery of ₹37.5 lakh within 24 hours of the incident, arresting three suspects, including two employees of the victim company, and recovering nearly the entire stolen amount.
