New Delhi, July 11: The administration in Greater Noida has adopted a strict stance regarding fire safety measures at coaching centers. A special inspection campaign commenced on Saturday. A joint team from the Greater Noida Authority and the fire department inspected 11 coaching centers located in Om Tower on the Alpha Commercial Belt, closely examining their fire safety equipment and arrangements.
During the inspections, some institutions met the required fire safety standards, while several coaching centers exhibited serious deficiencies. These institutions have been directed to comply with all safety standards and install the necessary equipment immediately.
The inspection team included Mukesh Kumar Singh, OSD of the Greater Noida Authority, Senior Fire Officer Vinod Pandey from the fire department, and Senior Manager Rajesh Kumar Nim from the authority. The team checked each coaching center for fire extinguishers, emergency exits, safety indicators, fire safety systems, and other essential equipment. Officials emphasized that there would be no compromise on student safety.
Recently, a meeting chaired by the District Magistrate instructed all coaching centers in the district to install all necessary fire safety equipment and ensure compliance within 15 days. In line with this, Shrilakshmi VS, the Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACE0) of the Greater Noida Authority, also held a meeting with officials to initiate the campaign and ensure timely action.
The 15-day deadline set by the administration ends this coming Monday. With this in mind, the inspection campaign has been intensified starting Saturday. Coaching centers found lacking during the inspections have been given a final opportunity to rectify their safety arrangements by Monday.
Officials have warned that if violations of fire safety standards are found during a follow-up inspection, strict action will be taken against the respective coaching centers, including sealing them.
The administration asserts that this campaign is not merely a formality but a crucial step towards ensuring the safety of students. In the coming days, similar inspections will be conducted at coaching institutions across other areas of Greater Noida.
Officials have urged all institution operators to fully comply with the prescribed fire safety standards to ensure the safety of students and staff in the event of any potential accidents. The administration has made it clear that there will be no leniency towards institutions that neglect safety regulations.
