Dubai, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the younger brother of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has passed away at the age of 76. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the loss on social media platform X.
In his heartfelt message, PM Modi stated, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His contributions to the welfare of society will be remembered for generations.”
The Prime Minister extended his condolences to the royal family and the people of Dubai, adding, “I pray that his soul finds peace.”
Following Sheikh Ahmed’s death, an official mourning period of ten days has been declared in Dubai. During this time, flags across the emirate will be flown at half-mast.
Sheikh Mohammed shared an emotional tribute, saying, “Ahmed may be away from our eyes, but he will always remain in our prayers and hearts.”
The Presidential Diwan (President’s Office) also released a statement expressing grief over his passing. It affirmed unwavering faith in God’s will and fate, offering condolences to Sheikh Mohammed and the entire Al Maktoum family. The statement prayed for the departed soul’s peace and for patience and comfort for the grieving family.
According to Gulf Times, Sheikh Ahmed was a prominent member of the royal family, having served as the Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security. He also held the position of Chairman of Al Wasl Sports Club.
