Shoshan, China, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : The global main event for World Cleanliness Day 2026 was inaugurated on September 20 in Shoshan, a city in Zhejiang Province, China. Centered around the theme “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities,” the event featured the release of several outcome-related documents, including “Shoshan Practices” and “Shoshan Initiatives.”
Approximately 800 participants attended, including representatives from United Nations agencies, international organizations, national ministries, domestic and foreign industry experts, and city and business representatives.
The event showcased achievements in building clean cities through an exhibition, an environmental cleanliness expo, and featured both a main speech platform and parallel sessions.
During the opening ceremony, Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Ni Hong emphasized China’s commitment to fostering a community with a shared future for humanity. He highlighted the importance of implementing four global initiatives, enhancing international cooperation in urban development, and advocating for frugality and civility in creating a cleaner home alongside other nations.
