Delhi Police Arrests Fugitive Criminal in Abduction Case After Eight Years

New Delhi, June 4: Delhi Police have apprehended a fugitive involved in a 2018 abduction case. The arrest was made on Thursday, as the accused had been evading trial for several years. He was hiding in the Rohini area when a team from Dwarka district successfully captured him.

The police stated that the accused, identified as Mohan alias Nuni, hails from Mahua in Uttar Pradesh. According to officials, he had been declared a ‘proclaimed offender’ by the court. He had deliberately avoided court proceedings since 2019, leading to his designation as a ‘proclaimed offender’ in August 2025 due to his continuous absence.

Acting on specific intelligence and persistent efforts, the police team successfully located and arrested the accused. Authorities emphasized that this action reaffirms the Dwarka district police’s commitment to ensuring judicial processes are followed and bringing fugitives to justice.

In their statement, Delhi Police noted that through relentless efforts, they have tracked down and arrested numerous declared offenders and fugitives, thereby strengthening public trust in law enforcement. The team’s proactive policing, effective intelligence gathering, and stringent monitoring ensure that no crime goes unpunished.

Earlier, Delhi Police arrested two mobile phone thieves on Tuesday. The suspects were found in possession of three stolen mobile phones and a scooter used in the crime.

The accused have been identified as Varun Sharma and Adil, both residents of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad. Police reported that during the operation, a Honda Activa scooter used in the crime was recovered, aiding in the resolution of three criminal cases related to mobile phone theft and snatching.
