Delhi Police Arrests Fugitive Accused of Rape and Other Crimes

New Delhi, June 19: The team from the Welcome Police Station in Northeast Delhi has apprehended a wanted suspect involved in rape, threats, stalking, and violations of the POCSO Act. The arrest occurred two months after the case was filed, with the suspect being captured in Uttarakhand.

On April 4, 2026, a 21-year-old woman filed a complaint at the Welcome Police Station. She alleged that in 2023, a man had sexually assaulted her while brandishing a firearm. The accused reportedly recorded a video of the victim and subsequently blackmailed her, threatened her, and repeatedly sexually exploited her. He also stalked her during tuition classes, threatening her and her family with severe consequences.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at the Welcome Police Station. During the investigation, it was revealed that the victim was a minor at the time of the incident, leading to the inclusion of Section 6 of the POCSO Act in the case.

Since the case was filed, the accused had been on the run. Multiple raids were conducted at potential hideouts, and efforts to locate him included technical surveillance, CDR analysis, social media monitoring, and local intelligence. Non-bailable warrants were issued against him, and proceedings were initiated under Section 84 of the BNS Act to declare him a ‘proclaimed offender.’

Under the leadership of Inspector Rupesh Kumar Khatri, the SHO of Welcome Police Station, and the close supervision of ACP Sahdev Kumar Rana from Bhajanpura, a dedicated team continuously worked on this case.

Upon receiving reliable information, the police team conducted a raid in Bhagwanpur, Uttarakhand, successfully arresting the approximately 26-year-old suspect, a resident of the Welcome area. During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused had previously been involved in cases of involuntary manslaughter and gambling. Further investigations are ongoing.
