Delhi, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant development, the Delhi police have arrested five individuals, including two women, in connection with the murder of an e-rickshaw driver. The arrests followed an investigation by the Shahbad Dairy police in outer North Delhi.
The incident unfolded on the night of September 12, near the newly constructed Ayurvedic hospital in Rohini Sector-28, where a minor road accident escalated into a violent confrontation. Following a collision between a motorcycle and a scooter, the e-rickshaw driver, identified as Abhishek, intervened to mediate the dispute.
During the altercation, a suspect named Himanshu reportedly engaged in a physical struggle with Abhishek, who then slapped him and attempted to restrain him. In the chaos, another suspect, Anuj, held Abhishek from behind while Sachin, also known as Santosh, allegedly stabbed him with a knife. Abhishek sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
Following the incident, the police utilized CCTV footage, technical analysis, and local intelligence to identify the suspects. The arrested individuals include 19-year-old Anuj, 21-year-old Himanshu, 22-year-old Sachin, as well as 19-year-old Nandini Tiwari and 18-year-old Kunti, also known as Vanshika.
Authorities recovered the knife used in the attack, along with the motorcycle and scooter involved in the incident, based on Himanshu’s information. Additionally, clothing stained with blood from the scene has also been seized. The police are continuing their investigation and pursuing legal action based on the evidence regarding the suspects’ roles in the crime.
