New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Patiala House Court in New Delhi has granted interim bail to Independent Bhardwaj in the Nishu Azad case for a period of three weeks. This decision was made on September 15, considering that the accused has been in custody for over ten days, allowing sufficient time for reflection. The court noted that the interrogation during his custody has been completed, and the maximum sentence for the alleged offenses could be seven years.
The court emphasized its primary concern for the safety of the complainant and her minor daughter. As a result, Bhardwaj’s release comes with stringent conditions. The court specified that his behavior will be monitored during this interim period before any consideration of his regular bail application.
Bhardwaj is required to adhere to five strict conditions. First, he must not make any statements, comments, videos, podcasts, interviews, or posts regarding the complainant and her family on any public platform, including social media and traditional media. Second, he is prohibited from contacting the complainant, her minor daughter, any family member, or any witness from the prosecution directly or indirectly.
Third, he must not tamper with any electronic records or social media content related to the case. Fourth, Bhardwaj is obligated to cooperate with the investigation whenever summoned by the investigating officer with prior notice. Lastly, he must provide his current address in Delhi, his permanent address, and his mobile number to the investigating officer and the court. He is required to keep the mobile number active and cannot change it without informing the investigating officer.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 6, where it will consider Bhardwaj’s regular bail application. Additionally, the court has instructed the investigative agency to expedite their inquiry and ensure that CCTV footage from the incident, which occurred on June 23 at Jantar Mantar, is collected and preserved.
