New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court has taken significant action in an international drug trafficking case by remanding Rishabh Baisoya to police custody for seven days. He has been handed over to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.
Reports indicate that Baisoya arrived in India from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today after a lookout circular against him was lifted. Upon his arrival, he was immediately arrested by the Delhi Police and presented in court. He had been evading authorities since October 2024.
Special Judge Kuldeep Narayan presided over the hearing. The Delhi Police’s special public prosecutor, Akhand Pratap Singh, requested ten days of custody for questioning, but the court approved a seven-day remand instead.
Rishabh Baisoya is the son of Veerendra Singh Baisoya, also known as Veeru, who is alleged to be the leader of the international drug racket. Veerendra, a resident of Pilanji village in Delhi, was previously extradited from the UAE. He was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau before being taken into custody by the Delhi Police for ten days of questioning on September 1.
Investigative agencies have revealed that this syndicate has connections extending to the UK, Pakistan, UAE, Thailand, and other countries. Veerendra Baisoya acts as a crucial link in this extensive international network.
On October 1, 2024, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell seized illegal drugs valued at ₹13,000 crore in a major operation. Veerendra was identified as a primary supplier involved in shipping these consignments from abroad.
The investigation has uncovered that this syndicate operates a vast network across Delhi, Punjab, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Goa. It is also linked to money laundering activities amounting to thousands of crores through hawala channels and foreign bank accounts.
With Rishabh Baisoya’s arrest, police are optimistic that further connections within this network will emerge, potentially leading to investigations into other suspects abroad.
