New Delhi, March 10: The political atmosphere surrounding the Delhi liquor scam has intensified once again. Saurabh Bhardwaj, the Delhi state president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has launched a sharp attack on the government.
He stated that the High Court has not imposed any stay on the discharge orders granted to AAP leaders by the lower court, indicating that the case is weak and fabricated.
Bhardwaj emphasized that the Rouse Avenue Court clearly mentioned that the case is not even worthy of trial. The court discharged all accused, stating that the investigative agency lacks sufficient evidence.
He noted that being discharged is a more significant decision than being acquitted, as acquittal occurs only after a full trial. In this instance, the court deemed the case unworthy of proceeding from the outset.
The AAP leader accused the BJP of orchestrating a conspiracy against AAP leaders at the behest of the CBI. Following the court’s ruling, the CBI filed an appeal in the Delhi High Court, but did not receive any stay on the lower court’s order.
Bhardwaj asserted that this clearly demonstrates the case’s weakness and that it was politically motivated. He also mentioned that the court raised questions about the role of the investigating officers, suggesting disciplinary action against them. This has reportedly created a climate of anxiety among officials in investigative agencies. He claimed that the BJP fears that if an investigation into these officers begins, they may reveal that they were under pressure from higher authorities.
Bhardwaj alleged that the central government sought to prevent potential action against the officials in court. The court has temporarily stayed the lower court’s comments and has requested responses from other parties involved in the case.
He further stated that the central government aims to ensure that the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation continues, even though the foundational case by the CBI has been proven weak in court. The court remarked that until a further decision is made in this matter, the ED’s proceedings will also be suspended.
The Aam Aadmi Party maintains that this case has always been part of a political conspiracy, and the court’s decisions are gradually confirming this perspective. Meanwhile, the BJP has consistently dismissed these allegations as baseless. All eyes are now on the upcoming hearings and the final verdict from the court.
