New Delhi, July 24: The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, has announced the long-awaited financial assistance of ₹1 crore to the families of frontline workers who lost their lives while on duty during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that the contributions of these brave individuals will always be remembered. She reaffirmed the Delhi government’s commitment to supporting their families.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister met with sanitation workers from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). She praised their dedicated service and acknowledged their significant role in creating a clean and beautiful Delhi.
During the meeting, she also shared a meal with the sanitation workers, expressing gratitude for their service and dedication.
This event took place during the launch of a door-to-door waste collection and secondary transport project in the Western Delhi Municipal Corporation area. On this occasion, the Chief Minister flagged off 917 modern vehicles.
Gupta stated that the Delhi government’s goal is not just to collect waste but to develop a modern, technology-based, transparent, and citizen-centric solid waste management system.
She expressed confidence that the new system would make door-to-door waste collection more effective, timely, and accountable. This initiative will play a crucial role in making Delhi cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful.
According to an official statement, the project will cover approximately 450,000 families residing in 25 wards of the Western Delhi Municipal Corporation.
The first phase of the project has been initiated in six wards, with the remaining 19 wards set to be integrated into this system by August 31.
To strengthen sanitation services, 917 state-of-the-art vehicles and modern waste collection equipment have been deployed, ensuring timely and efficient door-to-door waste collection.
