Students and Influencers Explore Nammo Bharat Railway System at Reform Festival

New Delhi, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian government’s “Reform Festival” initiative recently featured an outreach program at the Sarai Kale Khan Nammo Bharat station, aimed at familiarizing students and social media influencers with the Nammo Bharat regional rail system. This event was organized by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and included participants from various educational institutions, including the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

Attendees received insights into the operations of Nammo Bharat, including modern technology, passenger amenities, security measures, and multimodal connectivity. The program marked a celebration of transformative changes in governance over the past twelve years, highlighting the initiative’s goal of informing citizens about significant efforts in service delivery, institutional reform, and public welfare.

During the event, the NCRTC team showcased key features of the Nammo Bharat system. Participants experienced multimodal connectivity firsthand at the Sarai Kale Khan station, where a foot overbridge equipped with a travellator connects the Indian Railway station, the Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT), and the metro station. This integration enhances convenience for passengers transitioning between different modes of transport.

Interactive discussions and guided tours informed participants about the technologies and operational processes ensuring safe, convenient, and seamless travel on Nammo Bharat. Special emphasis was placed on the roles of female employees, with the NCRTC noting that women are taking on significant responsibilities as train operators and station controllers. Attendees also learned about dedicated coaches for women and other safety measures in place for passengers.

Questions from the participants focused on regional connectivity, the impact of the Nammo Bharat network on passenger movement, and future proposed corridors. The NCRTC team responded by outlining the vision for developing a modern, efficient, and integrated regional transport network in the National Capital Region (NCR). Participants also toured the station control room, gaining insights into daily operations and the management of passenger flow and train services.

Security personnel provided detailed information about the station’s safety protocols, introducing attendees to AI-enabled luggage scanners and dual-view X-ray baggage inspection systems designed for effective security checks. The program also highlighted amenities available for women, children, senior citizens, and differently-abled passengers, including reserved seating in every Nammo Bharat train.

Moreover, CCTV surveillance in stations and trains, along with improved lighting and last-mile connectivity, were emphasized as crucial components of passenger safety and convenience. Participants learned about facilities like travellators, lifts, and escalators available in the station area.

The outreach concluded with an opportunity for attendees to travel on a Nammo Bharat train, allowing them to closely observe passenger amenities and operational features. According to the NCRTC, these outreach programs aim to provide students, social media influencers, and other stakeholders with firsthand knowledge of the technologies, operational systems, and passenger-centric features that define modern regional transport infrastructure.
