New Delhi, June 14: A significant cleanliness drive was conducted at ITO Ghat as part of the Delhi government’s special Yamuna cleanliness campaign on Sunday. The event saw participation from the Chief Minister, cabinet members, BJP workers, and environmental activists. Delhi’s PWD Minister Pravesh Verma and former BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva actively took part in the initiative, cleaning the riverbank and spreading awareness among the public.
During the event, Pravesh Verma emphasized that making the Yamuna clean and pristine is a top priority for the Delhi government. He stated, “Cleaning the Yamuna has been one of our government’s key agendas, and we are continuously working in this direction. No effort will be spared to ensure the Yamuna is kept clean.”
Verma urged Delhi residents to support the campaign, highlighting that maintaining the cleanliness of the Yamuna is not solely the government’s responsibility but requires public participation as well. He noted that if everyone raises awareness and contributes to preventing pollution, the goal of keeping the Yamuna clean can be achieved swiftly.
Pravesh Verma also mentioned that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and all senior leaders and workers of the Delhi BJP are actively engaged in the Yamuna cleanliness campaign. He expressed confidence that with government efforts and public cooperation, the goal of restoring the Yamuna to a clean and pure state will be accomplished.
Targeting previous administrations, Verma criticized them for neglecting the cleanliness of the Yamuna, which led to the river’s deteriorating condition. He assured that the new government is serious about reviving the river.
He added, “We are fully confident that the Yamuna will be cleaned, and the people of Delhi will see a pristine river.” Virendra Sachdeva reiterated the government’s commitment to the issue, stating that continuous efforts are being made for the river’s cleanliness and conservation. He urged the public to understand that keeping the Yamuna clean requires collective responsibility.
Sachdeva remarked, “The Yamuna is the lifeline of Delhi, and every section of society must come forward to make it pollution-free.” He expressed optimism that joint efforts from the government and the public will lead to positive changes in the river’s condition, making it clean and beautiful in the future.
The event witnessed a large turnout of BJP workers, social organizations, environmental enthusiasts, and local citizens who actively participated in the cleanliness drive.
Additionally, BJP MP Swati Maliwal participated in the ‘Maa Yamuna River Bank Cleanliness Campaign’ at Kalindi Kunj.
