New Delhi, 9 December. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a major breakthrough in the probe of last month’s bomb blast in the national capital. On Tuesday, the agency arrested another key suspect in the case.

The NIA team apprehended Dr. Bilal Nasir Malla, a resident of Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, from Delhi. He is the eighth accused to be arrested in connection with the case. According to the NIA, Bilal played a crucial role in the blast that took place near Delhi’s Red Fort area, which resulted in the deaths of 11 people and left several others injured.

The agency stated that Bilal helped the deceased accused Umar Un Nabi by providing logistical support and shelter. Additionally, he was involved in destroying important evidence related to the blast. Based on these serious allegations, the NIA had been searching for him and finally arrested him on Tuesday.

The NIA said in a statement that this arrest is an important step towards fully exposing the conspiracy behind the deadly terrorist attack in Delhi. The agency is working closely with various central and state agencies to uncover every aspect of the incident.

In its press note, the NIA confirmed that the investigation into the terrorist attack is ongoing. The anti-terror agency is collaborating with multiple central and state agencies to trace all angles of the conspiracy.

It may be recalled that the terrorist blast near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi on 10 November shook the entire nation. At around 6:52 pm, a powerful explosion occurred in a white Hyundai i20 car standing at a high-traffic signal. The blast was so intense that several vehicles caught fire and nearby shop windows shattered. Eleven people lost their lives, and many others were injured in the explosion.

The NIA is investigating the entire case, which has also revealed evidence of suicide bombing. The main accused, Dr. Umar, linked to Al-Falah University and a resident of Pulwama, is said to have been inspired by ISIS.
