Los Angeles, June 1: Daniel Radcliffe, known worldwide for his powerful acting, is recognized at home simply as a father. Recently, he shared a delightful story about his young son.
He revealed that his son does not yet understand that his father is a film star. In fact, when he first saw Radcliffe on television, he was completely astonished.
Radcliffe recounted, “I was watching the Winter Olympics at home with my partner Erin Darke. I stepped out of the room for a moment, and during that time, a commercial featuring me aired on TV. When my son saw me on the screen, he was confused.”
He continued, “My son couldn’t comprehend how I had just left the room and suddenly appeared on TV. He exclaimed ‘Papa’ in surprise and started looking around.”
Radcliffe shared, “My son thought I had somehow entered the TV. After a while, he asked if I had gone somewhere. This moment was very special for me because it made me realize that my son is enjoying a completely normal childhood and has no idea about my fame.”
In a humorous tone, he added, “Explaining the profession of an actor to children is one of the toughest tasks. If someone is a police officer, doctor, or firefighter, kids can easily understand what they do. But explaining acting is not that simple. Sometimes, they themselves don’t know how to convey their work to a small child.”
He mentioned, “I try to explain the meaning of acting to my son. I tell him that just like stories in books, actors present those stories to people through their performances. However, my son is still too young to fully grasp these concepts. For now, he is quite distant from my professional world, and I hope it stays that way for a while.”
Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke welcomed their son in April 2023. They keep their son’s life very private and have not yet revealed his name. The couple first met during the filming of “Kill Your Darlings” in 2012.
