Cyber Police Arrests Job Scam Suspect in Ghaziabad

New Delhi, April 4: The Shahdara Cyber Police have apprehended a suspect involved in an online job scam in Ghaziabad. The accused allegedly defrauded a woman of approximately ₹1.51 lakh. Authorities recovered a mobile phone and a SIM card from the suspect’s possession.

The case emerged when Neha Chaudhary, a resident of East Rohtash Nagar, Shahdara, filed a complaint at the cyber police station. Based on her complaint, a case was registered on November 13, 2025. The victim reported receiving a link for job registration. Upon clicking the link, her phone was hacked, leading to eight unauthorized transactions totaling ₹1,51,018 from her bank account.

Following the incident, the victim promptly lodged a complaint on the NCRP portal, prompting the police to initiate an investigation. A team was formed under the leadership of SHO Vijay Kumar from the cyber police station, with oversight from SCP Operations Mohinder Singh.

During the investigation, police analyzed bank transactions and discovered that ₹10,000 from the scam was deposited into a bank account in Khoda Colony, Ghaziabad. Based on bank records, the account holder was identified as Keshav Kumar Karn, 28, a resident of Saraswati Vihar, Khoda Colony.

After persistent efforts, the police located the suspect and arrested him during a raid. During questioning, he revealed that he previously worked as a customer service provider for the State Bank of India and had opened an account with Indian Overseas Bank. An unidentified individual had assisted him in depositing approximately ₹1.30 lakh through three separate transactions, which were later withdrawn via ATM. The suspect also admitted to destroying his ATM card to eliminate evidence.

Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing, aiming to uncover any additional members involved in this scam. Officials have urged the public to refrain from clicking on unknown links and to report any suspicious activities to the police promptly to prevent such cyber crimes.
