London, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The England cricket regulator has leveled serious accusations against fast bowler Brydon Carse following an incident in Derby last August. The allegations claim that his behavior has tarnished the image of cricket.
Carse, 31, was arrested on the morning of August 23 while out with teammates from Durham, suspected of being drunk and engaging in bullying behavior. He was later released. A video surfaced on social media showing him in handcuffs, which further fueled the controversy.
Derbyshire police initiated an investigation into claims of assault that same night, but the inquiry was closed last month without any charges being filed. Now, the domestic governing body of the sport has accused Carse of violating Rule 3.2 of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Professional Conduct Regulations.
In a statement released on Friday, the cricket regulator announced that the case will be referred to an independent cricket disciplinary panel for a decision. They indicated that no further comments would be made while the process is ongoing.
According to Rule 3.2, “no participant may engage in any behavior, act, or omission that is improper or harmful to the interests of cricket, or that brings the ECB, the game of cricket, or any cricketer or group of cricketers into disrepute.”
As a result of this incident, Carse was immediately dropped from the England squad for the second Test against Pakistan. He has not played any international matches since. His last appearance for England was in January during the final Test of the Ashes series against Australia. After a period on the sidelines due to injury, Carse made a strong comeback, playing a crucial role in helping Durham secure promotion in Division One of the County Championship, with his team remaining unbeaten throughout the season.
Carse’s troubles escalated on Thursday when he was excluded from the England squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series in Pakistan. England’s white-ball captain, Harry Brook, commented on Carse’s situation last month, suggesting that he needs to take a break from international cricket. “Carse is a very good friend of mine. I’ve talked to him a lot. I think he needs some time away from international cricket. He is working on some personal and professional matters behind the scenes. Hopefully, he will be ready to play again in the future,” Brook stated before the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
