Bandipora, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Border Security Force (BSF) organized the Wular Ultra Run marathon in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, on October 4. The event, themed “Run with Bordermen,” was flagged off by Inspector General Sandeep Rawat from the BSF headquarters helipad.
This 50-kilometer ultra run commenced at 5 AM, drawing enthusiastic participants from both Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country. The marathon aimed to promote fitness, community engagement, and awareness about the conservation of Wular Lake. It concluded at Wular Vintage Park in Bandipora, bringing together runners, youth, BSF personnel, and local community members.
The initiative successfully united diverse segments of society, delivering a message about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and environmental protection. Participants expressed their appreciation for the BSF’s efforts, noting that such events encourage public involvement in fitness activities while raising awareness about the need to protect Wular Lake.
One female runner remarked, “The arrangements made by the BSF for this marathon are excellent. They have provided great facilities. We are here to promote Wular Lake, and I believe everyone should participate. This is a test of fitness levels, and I encourage women to join with enthusiasm. The atmosphere here is so inviting that even those who don’t usually run will feel inspired to do so.”
A volunteer shared his experience, stating, “I have been involved with the BSF’s ‘Border Run’ for some time. I volunteered for the ‘Dholavira Run’ in February, and now I am hosting this event. It feels amazing. As a civilian, I have always heard stories of the bravery of the BSF and armed forces. Standing shoulder to shoulder with them and running alongside is a significant experience for us.”
