New Delhi, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi Traffic Police has announced a traffic advisory in anticipation of the ‘Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon 2026’, scheduled for October 4. The marathon will take place from 5 AM to 11 AM, honoring the legacy of the only Param Vir Chakra recipient from the Indian Air Force, Flying Officer Nirmal Jeet Singh Sekhon.
During the event, traffic will be significantly impacted around key areas including Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, India Gate, and Zakir Hussain Marg. Specific routes will experience restrictions, particularly along Bhishma Pitamah Marg (near JLN Stadium Gate No. 1) and Lodhi Road (from BP Marg to Madarsa T-point and Aravindo Marg).
Furthermore, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Zakir Hussain Marg, C-Hexagon at India Gate (from Sher Shah Road cut to Ashoka Road cut), and areas around Kartavya Path, Mansingh Road, and Janpath will see traffic bans. Diversions will also be in place at Service Nagar Flyover, Kotla, and various junctions including Mehar Chand Market and Andrews Ganj.
Emergency vehicles will have unimpeded access. The traffic police has urged residents to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes.
In related news, the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon is also taking place in Mumbai, where retired Navy officer Rajinder Singh, 74, completed his 149th marathon. Singh, who has a history of participating in marathons across India, reflected on his experiences during service in both wars against Pakistan and continues to run actively.
