Sand Artists Celebrate Indian Teams Gold Medals at Asian Games 2026

Puri, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Asian Games 2026 marked a historic day for India on Saturday, with the national teams securing gold medals in multiple sports, including boxing, archery, men’s golf, wrestling, cricket, and hockey. This impressive achievement has sparked celebrations across the country.

In Puri, Odisha, sand artists Mona Lisa Moharana and Sonali Aluk paid tribute to the Indian men’s cricket and hockey teams by creating a unique sand art animation. They crafted images of the captains, Shreyas Iyer for cricket and Harmanpreet Singh for hockey, celebrating their victories. Between the two portraits, the message read, “Congratulations to both teams for making history.”

Mona Lisa and Sonali expressed their excitement, stating, “Saturday was a historic day for India at the Asian Games 2026. The Indian men’s cricket and hockey teams won gold medals. We created this sand art to honor their achievements, which took us about half an hour to complete.”

The 2026 Asian Games have been memorable for both the men’s and women’s teams in cricket and hockey, with India clinching gold in each category. The men’s cricket team triumphed over Pakistan by 19 runs, while the men’s hockey team defeated Malaysia 5-1. The women’s cricket team also secured gold by overcoming Sri Lanka, and the women’s hockey team triumphed against China.

This remarkable success has not only brought pride to the athletes but has also united the nation in celebration.
