Court Grants Regular Bail to Independent Bharadwaj in Assault Case Involving Nishu Azads Father

New Delhi, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Patiala House Court in New Delhi has provided significant relief by granting regular bail to Independent Bharadwaj in connection with the assault case involving Nishu Azad’s father. This decision comes after an incident during a protest organized by the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar. Details regarding the bail conditions will be released in a comprehensive order later.

Previously, on September 15, the same court had granted Bharadwaj interim bail for three weeks, subject to certain conditions. The court noted that his conduct during this interim period would be monitored before considering regular bail.

According to police reports, Bharadwaj was arrested by the Delhi police on September 4 in Bulandshahr. He faces allegations of attacking Sanjay Kumar, the father of protester Nishu Azad, during a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in July. Initial statements from the police indicated that Kumar sustained minor injuries from a steel bracelet.

However, the police later added provisions under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and criminal intimidation in the First Information Report (FIR) related to the alleged assault. Furthermore, a new FIR was filed against Bharadwaj under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after a complaint from a minor activist, who accused him of online threats and harassment.

The controversy escalated following a viral video where Bharadwaj reportedly boasted about physically assaulting Nishu Azad’s father during the protest and claimed he was not penalized due to his “political connections.”

Additionally, earlier in September, Advocate Amita Sachdeva filed a petition in the Patiala House Court seeking an FIR against Sanjay Azad and his minor daughter Nishu for allegedly using derogatory language against Hindu deities and inciting communal hatred.
