
Sasaram, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : In a shocking incident in Sasaram, Bihar, a couple was fatally shot while they slept on the roof of their home late Sunday night. The attack occurred in the Bedha Banrasia village, near the Bedha bus stand. Following the incident, panic spread throughout the neighborhood as police launched an investigation.
The victims have been identified as Nanki Devi, 40, and her husband, Mani Bhushan Kumar, 45. Mani Bhushan was originally from West Champaran. The couple operated a shop near Bedha Mor. Family members reported hearing gunshots around 1:30 to 2:00 AM. When they attempted to exit their room, they discovered that the door had been locked from the outside.
Upon hearing the commotion, nearby villagers rushed to the scene and managed to open the door. They found Nanki and Mani lying on the roof, covered in blood, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, the assailants had locked the family inside their room before shooting the couple. The bodies have been sent to the Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations. A forensic team has also been deployed to gather evidence from the crime scene.
Reports indicate that Mani Bhushan was Nanki’s second husband; her first husband had passed away from illness about five years prior. Afterward, Nanki and Mani began living together before eventually marrying. Nanki leaves behind four children.
Authorities are investigating the motives behind the murders, exploring various angles including personal disputes, old grudges, and other potential reasons. Police are also working to determine how many assailants were involved, their route to the crime scene, and their escape path following the attack. Interrogations of family members and local residents are ongoing. Officials state that a clearer picture of the double homicide and the perpetrators will emerge once the investigation is complete.
