Ujjain, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : Amid preparations for the Singhast Mahakumbh, a dispute has arisen over the proposed demolition of a historic Hanuman temple in Ujjain. Batukgiri Maharaj, the Mahamandaleshwar of the Atal Ashram in Surat, voiced his concerns, emphasizing that Hanuman resides in all four ages and temples dedicated to him can be found in nearly every village across India. He argues that instead of removing the approximately 170-year-old temple, the administration should seek alternative solutions.
In an exclusive interview, Batukgiri Maharaj stated that if the administration needs land or access for the Singhast Mahakumbh, demolishing the temple should not be the only option. He suggested that a better temple could be constructed at the site, and the road could be redirected slightly. The Singhast Mahakumbh is a significant event linked to Sanatan Dharma, and it is crucial to safeguard temples and ensure proper worship arrangements in their vicinity. He urged the administration and government to consider these alternatives.
Additionally, Batukgiri Maharaj responded to comments made by Dhirendra Shastri regarding the sale and preparation of meat and fish around Durga Puja and Navratri pandals in West Bengal. He expressed gratitude to Shastri for raising awareness about Sanatan Dharma and Hanuman on a global scale.
He pointed out that fish holds a unique place in Bengal’s religious and cultural traditions, citing the example of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He acknowledged that different states have varying religious beliefs and culinary practices. In states like Gujarat and Maharashtra, certain foods are avoided during religious events. He emphasized that during festivals like Navratri or Devi Puja, it is essential to abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian food. Observing restraint and reverence during religious occasions aligns with spiritual values and promotes harmony.
