Mumbai, March 17: The film industry often sees songs becoming hot topics upon release, but sometimes these tracks also spark controversy. Recently, the song ‘Sarke Chunar’ from the film ‘KD – The Devil’ has been in the spotlight. The lyrics and choreography of the song have faced significant backlash. Initially, the criticism was confined to social media, but it soon escalated to involve prominent figures and organizations, intensifying the dispute.
In response to the growing controversy, the makers have made a significant decision to remove the song from YouTube and are now preparing to re-release it in a new version.
‘Sarke Chunar’ features Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi. Following its release, many criticized the lyrics as objectionable and double-meaning. The choreography was also labeled provocative, leading to a rapid increase in criticism.
As the controversy escalated, the makers decided to take the song down from YouTube. They have also opted to revise the lyrics to avoid offending anyone’s sentiments. However, it remains unclear when this new version will be released, although the makers are eager to present it to audiences soon.
The situation gained further traction when the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice regarding the song. The commission expressed concern over the words used in the track and demanded a response.
Additionally, lawyer and social activist Vineet Jindal filed a complaint with the Delhi Police Cyber Cell against the song. He stated that the lyrics are obscene and could negatively impact society, especially children. Jindal has called for stringent action against the makers.
Several stars from the film industry have also shared their views. Renowned singer Armaan Malik described it as the “lowest level of songwriting,” while former cricketer and Rajya Sabha member Harbhajan Singh criticized both the song and the artists involved.
