Hyderabad, June 17: Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the founder and president of Telangana Jagruthi, has criticized Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s decision to name a road in Hyderabad ‘Donald Trump Avenue.’
Kavitha expressed her concerns on social media, stating, “There are many great personalities in Telangana who have truly contributed to the state. Yet, Chief Minister Rao wants to name a road after Donald Trump. What has Trump done for Telangana? Millions of students and migrants living in the U.S. are constantly worried due to his uncertain visa policies.”
She further argued that no company would invest in Hyderabad based solely on the name of a road. “Naming a major road after Trump is an insult to our people. Global companies will invest in Hyderabad for talent, infrastructure, and profits, not because of political flattery on a street sign. If there is any benefit, it will be visa approvals for your family members. This is not diplomacy; it is a cheap attempt to gain international headlines at the cost of our identity and self-respect.”
It is noteworthy that the K. Chandrashekar Rao government plans to unveil ‘Donald Trump Avenue’ in Hyderabad next week. The proposal to name a prominent road near the U.S. Consulate in Cyberabad after the former U.S. president was initially suggested in December 2025.
Kavitha also mentioned at an event on Wednesday that if Chief Minister Rao has any integrity, he should immediately commence work on the Tumidi Hatti project, which is part of a 148-meter agreement. She accused him of using the Maharashtra Chief Minister as an excuse, claiming there is no real intention to develop Tumidi Hatti.
