Congress Leader Defends New Dress Code Amid BJP Criticism in Lucknow

Lucknow, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : In Lucknow, Congress leader Rajendra Pal Gautam has responded to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) criticism of the Samajwadi Party’s new blue dress code. He asserted that individuals should have the freedom to wear what they prefer and dismissed the BJP’s stance as irrelevant. Gautam emphasized that the real struggle lies not in clothing but in ideology.

During a media interaction, Gautam highlighted concerns regarding the educational and employment opportunities being denied to the Dalit, backward, and marginalized communities in India. He criticized the trend of privatization, which he claims has led to a reduction in government job openings. Gautam voiced strong opposition to the government’s policies regarding the sale of public sector enterprises.

He pointed out that during the Congress rule, schools were established in villages to provide education to children from impoverished families. In contrast, he noted that the current BJP-led governments have shut down several schools, citing low student enrollment as the reason. Gautam urged the government to consider why student numbers are declining in schools. He stressed the necessity for adequate facilities in government schools, such as sufficient teachers, libraries, seating arrangements, drinking water, and sanitation.

Gautam particularly emphasized the need for toilets and basic amenities in schools for girls. He criticized the government for blaming children and their parents for low enrollment rates instead of addressing the deficiencies in the education system.

He stated that if a system is failing, it should be improved rather than dismantled. Closing schools is not a solution to the problems at hand, according to Gautam, who condemned the BJP governments as “inept” and “ineffective.” He concluded by calling on the government to focus on enhancing education and employment opportunities to secure a better future for the underprivileged children of the nation.
