Flood Relief Efforts Intensify in Uttar Pradesh as Thousands Evacuated

Lucknow, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Relief and rescue operations in Uttar Pradesh are in full swing following severe flooding, as directed by the Chief Minister. The state’s flood relief commissioner reported that 26 districts have been impacted, affecting approximately 353,000 residents. Remarkably, no loss of life or livestock has been recorded so far, thanks to the diligent efforts of relief teams.

So far, authorities have distributed 72,897 flood relief kits and over 367,000 lunch packets to those in need. In total, 17,544 individuals have been relocated to safer locations, while 4,847 people remain in flood shelters.

The state has established 1,312 flood shelters to accommodate evacuees. To enhance the effectiveness of the relief efforts, 1,634 flood posts, 1,697 boats, and 1,068 medical teams are actively monitoring affected areas and providing immediate assistance.

The government is prioritizing the delivery of food and essential supplies to impacted families. In addition to the food packets, over 5,000 quintals of fodder have been distributed for livestock. Health safety measures have also been implemented, with more than 552,000 chlorine tablets and over 187,000 ORS packets provided to ensure public health.

While over 45,000 animals have been affected by the floods, there have been no reports of livestock fatalities. Similarly, there have been no reports of human casualties. The districts most affected include Amroha, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Badaun, Ballia, Barabanki, Basti, Chandauli, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Kanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Prayagraj, Raebareli, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shahjahanpur, Unnao, and Varanasi.
