Mamata Banerjee Accused of Acting as BJPs Agent by Democratic Trinamool Congress

Democratic Trinamool Congress leader Rijju Dutta claims Mamata Banerjee is collaborating with BJP, raising concerns over political integrity.

Kolkata, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Democratic Trinamool Congress (DTC) leader Rijju Dutta has leveled serious allegations against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of acting as an agent for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His comments came in response to several topics, including the nomination of Rukmini Malik, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and Banerjee’s recent ultimatum to party members.

Dutta described Malik’s nomination as a personal decision but emphasized that his party has consistently questioned Banerjee’s ties with the BJP. He noted that four of Banerjee’s Rajya Sabha MPs resigned, only to receive tickets from the BJP later. He also referred to ongoing investigations involving Banerjee’s nephew and central agencies, suggesting a political deal between Banerjee and the BJP.

The DTC leader asserted that the notion of Banerjee being a BJP agent is increasingly supported by recent political developments. He claimed that the BJP’s strategy of sidelining Banerjee has weakened the opposition alliance.

Regarding the UCC, Dutta pointed out that it has been part of the BJP’s manifesto and that steps are now being taken toward its implementation. He stated that the UCC bill has been sent to a committee for review. Until the committee releases its report, the DTC will refrain from making detailed comments on the issue. However, he warned that if the law infringes on the constitutional right of citizens to practice their religion, the party will oppose it both inside and outside the assembly.

Dutta also responded to Banerjee’s recent statement inviting former party members to return within 15 days. He sharply criticized her, suggesting that she needs medical treatment rather than political maneuvering. He highlighted the contradiction in her labeling former members as dishonest and traitorous while simultaneously inviting them back.

On the allegations concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission, Dutta stated that the DTC will not comment, as the matter is before the Supreme Court. He emphasized that it would be inappropriate for a political party to make observations on an issue currently under judicial review.

Tensions continue to rise in West Bengal’s political landscape as these developments unfold.
