Congress Releases Second List of 23 Candidates for Assam Assembly Elections 2026

Mumbai, March 15: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has unveiled its second list of candidates for the Assam Assembly Elections 2026. This announcement was made on Saturday and includes names for 23 assembly constituencies.

According to the second list, the Congress has nominated Karthik Chandra Roy from Golakganj, Wazed Ali Chaudhary from Birsing Jarua, Amrit Badshah from Bilasipara, Mohibur Rohman Chaudhary from Mankachar, Abul Kalam Rashid Alam from Golpara East, Kishore Kumar Brahma from Dudhnoi (ST), Nurul Islam from Srijangram, Abdul Khalek from Mandia, Rakibuddin Ahmed from Chamarigaon, and Pranjit Chaudhary from Rangia.

Additionally, candidates include Kishore Kumar Barua from Dimoria (SC), Santanu Bora from New Guwahati, Rijumoni Talukdar from Mangaldai, Jhilli Chaudhary from Hojai, Batash Urang Kurmi from Dhekiajuli, Dr. Shankar Jyoti Kutum from Gohpur, Shailen Sonwal from Dhemaji (ST), Devid Phukan from Tinsukia, Bipul Gogoi Bora from Tingkhong, Dhruvjyoti Purkayastha from Dholai (SC), and Aminur Rashid Chaudhary from Karimganj South.

This list reflects the party’s commitment to representing various regions and includes candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and the general category. Through these selections, Congress aims to demonstrate its strong presence and focus on local issues.

Previously, the party had released its first list, announcing 42 candidates. To date, Congress has declared a total of 65 candidates.

In a strategic alliance approach, the party has decided to allocate 15 seats to its coalition partners. Significant reserved seats such as Bhawanipur-Sorbhog (No. 21), Bajalipur-Sorbhog (26), Palasbari (29), Guwahati Central (36), Goreswar (44), Morigaon (54), and Barhampur (59) have been assigned to allied parties. Moreover, seats like Binakandi (62), Behali (SC) (71), Sadiya (81), Dibrugarh (88), Khowang (89), Sarupathar (107), Difu (ST) (110), and Amri (ST) (112) are also reserved for coalition partners.
