New Delhi, August 1: Congress leaders have reacted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent message directed at students. They expressed concern over the use of batons and pellet guns against children, questioning the Prime Minister’s silence on the matter.
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit spoke with a news agency, stating, “Regarding the use of abusive language, I condemn it. I have never supported the use of vulgar words in public life. When Arvind Kejriwal insulted Congress and Sheila Dikshit, I spoke out against it. We condemned the use of indecent language by BJP leaders as well, but the Prime Minister has not expressed regret.”
He further added, “Whether it’s Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, or other Congress leaders, they have all faced severe insults. Some have even symbolically suggested that they could shoot Mahatma Gandhi again. We have never seen the Prime Minister disturbed by the glorification of those who assassinated Gandhi.”
Sandeep Dikshit emphasized, “When you label the low standards in politics, it becomes a norm. Arvind Kejriwal initiated this trend of insults around 2011-12, and BJP leaders have taken it to new heights. The Prime Minister has never responded to this.”
He questioned, “It is absolutely wrong to insult you. The real question is, when will the Prime Minister address issues concerning children? The government’s attitude seems to label children as terrorists at times, while the Delhi police claim that violent elements infiltrated protests. If this is the case, the government appears to take no action.”
Meanwhile, Rakesh Sinha, media in-charge of Jharkhand Congress, commented on PM Modi’s video message, saying, “It’s fine for the Prime Minister to create reels and seek forgiveness from children, but why have the perpetrators who used pellet guns, AK-47s, and batons against children not resigned? Amit Shah should resign. We need to know why he has not yet apologized for the actions of the Home Minister.”
